È morto Earl Lloyd, il primo afroamericano a giocare in NBA: aveva 86 anni

Giovedì 25 febbraio è morto a Detroit Earl Lloyd, il primo afroamericano a giocare in NBA (la National Basketball Association, la principale lega professionistica di basket nordamericana). Lloyd aveva 86 anni, era nato ad Alexandria, in Virginia. Fu scelto dai Washington Capitols nel draft del 1950 come nona scelta: giocò con i Capitols solo nove partite e poi si arruolò nella Marina americana. Tornò a giocare nel 1952 con i Syracuse Nationals. In tutta la sua carriera giocò 560 partite, con una media di 8,4 punti, 6,4 rimbalzi e 1,4 assist. Lloyd diventò anche il primo assistant coach nero della storia della NBA quando nel 1968 si unì ai Detroit Pistons (squadra con cui giocò anche le ultime due stagione della sua carriera). Nel 2003 entrò nella Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, uno dei massimi riconoscimenti della pallacanestro internazionale.
