In questi giorni le piogge monsoniche stanno causando molti danni nel nord dell’India e in particolare nella regione di Uttarakhand, che confina con il Tibet e il Nepal. Una delle città più colpite nella zona è Uttarkashi, dove il fiume Bhagirathi ha straripato trascinando nella propria corrente interi palazzi. Migliaia di persone sono state evacuate, secondo BBC per ora ci sono stati circa 70 morti. Secondo le previsioni le piogge diminuiranno a partire da giovedì 20 giugno.
