Il Portogallo ha battuto l’Olanda 2-1, qualificandosi così ai quarti di finale e infliggendo all’Olanda la terza sconfitta consecutiva nel torneo. Gli olandesi avrebbero dovuto vincere con due gol di scarto per avere speranze di passare il turno ed erano passati in vantaggio dopo poco con un gol di Van der Vaart. Poi però il Portogallo ha dominato la partita, soprattutto grazie a Cristiano Ronaldo, in condizioni eccellenti. Due gol dell’attaccante del Real Madrid hanno ribaltato il risultato.
